How to make earring hooks

Ready earring hooks

These earring hooks are designed for the average size of ears. If you want them shorter or longer you can easily twist the wire up or down to change the size.

What you need:

 

  • 9 centimeter 0.8 mm round sterling silver wire
  • Ruler
  • File
  • Side cutter
  • Round nose pliers
  • Flat nose pliers

 

Cutting 2 pieces of 4.5 centimeter of 0.8 mm sterling silver wire
Cut 2 pieces of 4.5 centimeter of 0.8 mm round sterling silver wire
Filing ends of the wire to get rid of rough edges
File the ends of the wire to get rid of rough edges
Centering the wire on the round nose pliers
Center the wire on the round nose pliers
Twisting a loop
Twist a loop
Twist from other side
Twist from other side
Twist again to straighten
Twist again to straighten
Center the wire on the round pliers 1.2 centimeter from end and twist the silver while holding the tool tight

Bending the wire with the flat tool
Bend the wire to the right with the flat nose pliers
Straighten the wire
Straighten the wire
Measuring length of earring hooks on card
Measure earring hooks on card to make sure they are same length. If not you can use the round nose pliers and twist up or down.
